MASCULINITY: JOSEPHINE
Why, as a man, would you post a picture of yourself in front of a car with a photograph of naked women edited into it as you viciously grab your ballsack and bite your lower lip?
Masculinity is taught to boys from the moment they arrive into this world. Cobalt blue bedding. Depictions of apex predators laminated on shirts, shoes, books, and waterbottles. Even as parents try to become more conscious of this, the culture of big strong men prevails in much of the media. Masculinity today is constructed by emphasis on male genitalia, exploitation of women, and material acquisition. So, why, as a man, would you post a picture of yourself in front of a car with a photograph of naked women edited into it as you viciously grab your ballsack and bite your lower lip? Because you are attempting to ironize masculinity while simultaneously attempting to benefit from it to make yourself appear at once socially conscious and perfectly masculine. However, many heterosexual, bisexual, and pansexual women are far less attracted by the grandsons of masculinity. Emphasis on male genitalia, exploitation of women, and material acquisition, are perverted concepts of true masculinity.
Why, as a pansexual woman, was I more attracted to a person who built cars versus a person who posed in front of one?
The difference between material acquisition and material production is a question of demonstrating physical strength (which if I may add, was not used to harm anyone), applying time and effort, and representing skill.
